JCCSF Youth Athletic Department Senior Youth Athletic Coordinator Position Open

 Hello Friend & Colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well. The JCCSF Youth Athletic Department has an opening on its staff, so I wanted to make you aware of the position and ask for you help in finding the right person for the job. This job is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is looking to be in the youth sports and/or non-profit industry. It affords a chance to develop as a coach, teacher, and supervisor while working in a rewarding environment. The JCCSF has a rapidly growing youth sports program and we are looking for someone to jump in and help with our exciting growth.

The position is Senior Youth Athletic Coordinator and I’ve attached the job description to this email to give you more information on the responsibilities and other details of the job. It is a full-time, fully benefited, union position. The main duties reside in direct service, coaching youth sports teams (ages 5 – 14 years) and teaching youth sports classes (ages 3 – 12 years). There is an administrative aspect to the job and the position also involves heavy interaction with parents.

The job is Monday through Friday for the summer, but will require working on the weekends during the school year.

If you know of anyone that might be interested, please feel free to forward this email to them and have them submit a resume and cover letter as soon as possible. My hope is to have the position filled by June 1.

Here are some of the characteristics I’m looking for:

Experience working with children

Background in a variety of sports, if not variety then high level of experience in one sport and general knowledge of others (basketball, baseball, soccer, lacrosse, volleyball, tennis)

Intuitive and resourceful

Energetic and enthusiastic, confident and comfortable

Task oriented – able to complete and prioritize several administrative projects at once

Team player

Capable leader with possible supervisory experience

Thanks for your help. If you have any questions, please be in touch.

Youth Coaching Courses

 Reminder to all:

The educational procedure of the CYSA Coaching School Program is established by the United States Soccer Federation which mandates that all coaches follow the educational steps from F through National D, without skipping a level. It is also required that the information be used for one full season before proceeding to the next course.  The only exceptions to this rule is the time between taking the E/D license and the D license.  For this level it is highly recommended that these two courses be taken as close as possible to each other as the E/D was created to prep coaches to satisfactory complete the D license.

To request the time between courses to be waived a time waiver can be requested and will be granted based on youth soccer coaching experience and knowledge of the game.  It is also possible for high school coaches who have been a head Varsity coach for at least 3 year to be waived to the E/D course. However if this waiver is requested the E/D course must be taken on a pass/fail basis.

In order to receive either of these two waivers they must be approved by either of our District’s Coaching Coordinators.  These waivers are available online at our District website (http://www.cysad1.org/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=38)

Also remember this course is limited to 15 coaches so space is limited.

Also as Ilona mentioned for those coaches that are planning on taking the National D course the next course will be held on June 6-10 in Burlingame.  To sign up please download CYSA’s application at http://www.cysanorth.org/Coaching/national_d.htm . This course is limited to only 30 coaches so space is even more limited as this is for all coaches in all nine districts in our state.

IFAB Statement

At its meeting on Saturday 3rd March 2007 in Manchester , the International Football Association Board (IFAB), the guardian of the Laws of the Game, set down criteria for all future experiments involving goal-line technology.

Any proposed system seeking IFAB approval must meet the following four principles:

* The technology should apply only to goal-line technology
* The system must be 100% accurate
* The indication of whether or not the ball has crossed the line must be instantaneous between the system and the referee
* The signal is communicated only to the match officials.

The Board also received a presentation from adidas/Cairos and the FA Premier League on two different systems.

Among the other items discussed were:

* It was decided that the next IFAB Sub-Committee would establish a common protocol for dealing with injured players.
* The Board stressed that any pitch-side monitors should not be visible from the technical areas.
* FIFA raised the intentional use of elbows and presented the guidance to referees ahead of the 2006 FIFA World Cup. It was accepted that these guidelines should be uniformly applied.
* Artificial pitches should be green in colour. This will be integrated into the FIFA Quality Concept.
* A protocol for referees’ communication systems was established, specifying that the system should only link the match officials, that it is not broadcast and that it is not recorded.

The Board approved changes to the wording of the Laws of the Game in the following areas:

* Prohibiting any type of advertising on the ground within the technical area
* Any undershirts or undershorts must be the same main colour as the player’s kit
* The player’s equipment must not carry any political, religious or personal statements
* A reserve assistant referee may be appointed under competitions rules but would only become involved if one of the assistant referees is unable to continue
* A player may not celebrate a goal by covering his head or face by a mask or similar item

Under Any Other Business, the following issues were discussed:

* A proposal by FIFA for two additional assistant referees was referred to the IFAB Sub-Committee for further study.
* The wearing of a hijab is already covered by Law 4 of Players’ Equipment.

The IFAB is composed of FIFA, with four votes, and the football associations of , , and , with one vote each. Amendments to the Laws of the Game require a minimum of six votes to be passed.

Electronic eye to end goal disputes (4th March 2007)

The Premier League has agreed to the introduction of goal-line sensors after being given approval by football's rule-makers. The system, which is being developed by the company Hawk-Eye, would give a definitive decision on whether the ball had crossed the line.

The move comes after referees' chief Keith Hackett and Premier League general secretary Mike Foster made a presentation to the International Football Association Board (IFAB) in Manchester yesterday. 'Hawk-Eye has a great reputation within tennis and cricket especially, and I would hope we could start trialling it within weeks at [a training] academy,' said Hackett.

However, Paul Hawkins, head of Hawk-Eye, told The Observer that it was unlikely the system would be fully operational for another two seasons. 'Getting a system to work is easy, getting it to always work is much more difficult. We have to make sure this works every time or it will lose credibility,' he said.

The decision to develop goal-line technology follows several recent controversies in which goals have been disallowed. Two seasons ago, a shot from Tottenham Hotspur's Pedro Mendes clearly crossed the line by a yard before being scooped away by Manchester United goalkeeper Roy Carroll. The match ended goalless.

This season a header by United's Nemanja Vidic clearly crossed the Portsmouth goal-line. Again no goal was given, though the match still ended in victory for United, 2-1.

During its meeting yesterday, the IFAB laid down four criteria for goal-line systems:

· The technology should only apply to goal-line decisions.

·The system must be 100 per cent accurate.

·The signal sent to the referee must be instantaneous.

· The signal is only communicated to the match officials.

The Hawk-Eye system uses a camera taking 600 frames a second on the goal-line. The information is analysed by computer and sent to the referee's headset or a device on his wrist. The equipment has been tested at Fulham's Craven Cottage ground but not on match days.

Other suppliers were given the go-ahead to continue experiments, including Adidas and German company Cairos, which has been struggling for two years to refine a system that uses a microchip inside the ball.

Player Testimonials
“ I like how you explain things in a way that is easy to remember, ie the ball is like the sun don’t stare at it, get out of the shadows for a pass.  I also like how hard you try to keep us from blindly kicking the ball into traffic and losing possession. Your enthusiasm is infectious, contagious and all that.”.
